Volunteer Vacancies

Volunteer with Exeter Community Transport Association...

Exeter Community Transport Association relies on volunteers to run our services which make such an important difference in the lives of disabled people in and around Exeter.

We currently have 24 people volunteering with ECTA, but we have far more opportunities than people at present.

Our volunteers help us to man our services, spread the word, raise valuable funds and enable us to run projects and services which would, otherwise, not be able to take place.

You can help to contribute to our development by volunteering your time in a wide range of ways.  Some of the current roles are detailed below.  Further details of the roles are available by clicking on the links to open a full role description in Adobe Acrobat™

Volunteer for City Sights

ECTA are launching an exciting new project to assist physically or sensory impaired individuals with enjoying a fuller social life and accessing the city centre. Would you like to provide assistance to help people to build confidence to shop and enjoy social activities?

Exeter Community Transport Association exists to support independent mobility for people suffering from limited mobility of any kind. We operate Exeter Shopmobility, Ring & Ride, Taxicard, Leisuremobility and ExeAccess to provide support, encouragement and the ability to overcome the obstacles to a full and independent life.

We are working on a new project to help visually impaired people to enjoy the city. The project, City Sights, will provide sighted guides to help with navigating and describing the sights and scenes around our heritage rich city.

Volunteer Project Co-ordinator

Do you have the enthusiasm to help us to get this project up and running? Would you like to help us to market the service and to help recruit volunteer sighted guides?

We are looking for someone friendly and sensitive to the needs of people with visual impairment to help us to liaise and 'make friends' with other organisations and help other volunteers to assist the service users to get around Exeter city.

Training:
Visual Awareness
Mobility Awareness
Sighted guide techniques

If you are interested in helping us to develop this project, please contact us now.

We are continually building links with other organisations in developing this service and this is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of a new project linking in with charities and organisations which exist to support visually impaired people.

A suggested job description is attached with details of areas in which you may like to get involved.
